It's the West Kortright Center's 50th birthday! To celebrate, we're throwing a FREE community party to honor the past, look to the future, and dance until the cows come home…

Music brought to us by the Big Takeover!
Fronted by the charismatic Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Nee Nee Rushie, the seven-piece New York band The Big Takeover plays original music that is rooted in and reverent toward the genres and rhythms of Jamaican pop: reggae, rocksteady, ska. Their deceptively complex arrangements and big hooks connect with the spirit of Motown and the uptown sophistication of the 21st century retro soul and R&B revival scene.

Also, the infamous Pet Parade returns, Eats from Good Cheap Food, Dance party after the Big Takeover! and much much more.

• 4 PM - Party starts

• 4:30- (The return of) The West Kortright(Minster) Pet Parade!!!! 

• Celebrity judges and prizes for all! 

• Judges: Richie Stein, Cindy Dunne, Lynne Fischer, Meredith Monk, Jonah Shaw.

• 5:30 - Food from Catskill Smoke House - Roast Chicken, Creme Brulee, and Pulled Mushrooms.

• Ongoing activities:

• The Crap Shoot Photo Booth - In the outhouse, with an array of costumes from the WKC collection to choose from

• Crafts: 

• Tie-dying WKC commemorative T-Shirts

• Ribbon dancers for kids

• Indoor showing of films shot at WKC

• A loop of short films by Carlo Mirabella-Davis, Olivia Briggs, Francesca Mirabella-Davis, Chris Dapkins, and more.

• 7:00 - 9:00 Dancing and Music by the Big Takeover
